Assignment for the next 5 weeks:
Research the designer you randomly selected. Prepare a presentation to share with the class. Over the next five class periods there will be daily presentations. A schedule is listed below. You must put your PDF presentation this Dropbox folder BEFORE the class period you are scheduled to present at.

Use InDesign to create your presentation (11 X 8.5) and export as a PDF. It must be easy to read, don’t cram it with text, show highlights about the person. Prepare to talk briefly for 5 minutes with at least 6 slides that cover:
—Who are they? (1 slide)
—What have they done? (1 slide)
—What do they currently do? (1 slide)
—What is their design philosophy/approach/view/work? (1 slide)
—Memorable quote (1 slide)
—Provide at least 3 links to relevant work and/or articles (1 slide) (make these interactive links in InDesign/PDF)

During the next five weeks the first 45 minutes of class will be dedicated to the designer presentations. The following hour will be open for individual meetings with me. You must sign up for a time. Sign-up sheets are outside my office (pencil included), sign up if you need to and please remember the time you signed up for.

On Monday April 23rd (our last class) the BFA Graphic Design Exhibit opens, we will use class time to celebrate and view the show!

Write a draft of your (master) resume, cover letter, biography, and project descriptions. Use Microsoft Word and write all of your documents in separate files, cover letters should be roughly 4 paragraphs (1 page), bio should be short (150-200 words, can come from cover letter?), project descriptions should be brief and to the point.

Drop off a PRINTED VERSION of these documents at my office (26C Kresge) by FRIDAY Feb. 17th.

Design your collateral materials, resume, cover letter, business cards, online portfolio, physical portfolio, leave behind, etc. Bring anything you have for feedback to our individual meeting. Sign up for a time on Monday Feb. 20 or Feb. 27th. All meetings will be held in my office, 26C Kresge. Show me your work either printed OR digital. If you are showing digital work please send me a link to the file(s) by 11:00 am. the day we meet so that I can have it up on the computer when we meet! Please have things organized so we can move through them easily. I only have 10 minutes with each of you!

google yourself & clean up existing profiles
google yourself, double check facebook privacy, remove/cleanup any blogs or other accounts revise and test out your facebook profile, make a linkedin profile and add me as a connection, clean up flickr, vimeo, blogs, any other accounts, etc.

Come to the next class prepared to share a brief description of your physical and online portfolio decisions in small groups, bring your questions!
